Crafts.

In Acorn class we have been doing lots of crafts in the afternoon. As it is Christmas soon, our crafts have all been Christmas themed.
We made 4 different things. We made Rudolf out of our hand prints and a red pompom, later on we attatched a felt collar and stitched on a bell. We loved doing this as it was very messy.

We also made Father Christmas out of coloured card, paint, cotton wool and paper. The hardest part was curling the paper. But we had lots of fun doing this.

In art lesson we made a bauble. We used a ball, tissue paper and glue. This was very sticky but so much fun.

The last thing we made was little hand reindeers. We drew around our hands and cut them out. We then decorated them with pens, glitter and gems. We used black pipe cleaners for the antlers. Little red pom-poms for the noses, and sticky googley eyes.

We've created so many fun things and can't wait to hang some of them on our trees at home.

Writing in Acorn class.

For a few days now, Acorn class have been learning all about the book 'Stick Man' by Julia Donaldson. We have learnt about Stick Man and his adventures. In lesson we created our own book, pretending Stick Man was stuck in school and had to get out.
We went outside to the park and found some sticks to create our very own Stick Boy or Stick Girl.

Here is a picture of Paige writing her adventure of Stick Girl.

Here is a photo of Lee writing about Stick Boy's adventures.

Sapphire stated that her favourite part of the book, was when Stick Man was reunited with his family.
We all loved reading about this book and creating our own version. We can't wait to see what's next for Acorn class.

Staying safe in winter.

Yesterday (2.12.15) Northrepps school had a visitor from the vice principal of Cromer academy, Mr Speck. Mr Speck came to talk to us about staying safe in winter. He told us that he regularly bikes to work, but does 5 things daily to stay safe.

Rule 1: Stay warm

Loading up the layers...

Rule 2: Grab that hat!
Here we have a volunteer wearing s neck warmer and putting a helmet on.

Rule 3: be bright, be seen!
This slide was to show awareness that if you do not have lights or a high via jacket no one will see you.
Here is another volunteer holding lights that can be attatched to your clothing and or bike.

Rule 4: Drink up!
Rule four was to drink up. This is very important so you stay hydrated. Mr Speck informed the children that to warm himself up after his journey he likes to have a cup of hot chocolate.

Rule 5: Look out for each other!
This is a very important rule. You must look out for your friends. If you notice your friend is cold and not themselves, you must take them inside to warm up.

Bonus rule: Avoid frozen water!
Do not go on frozen water. This is very dangerous!

Thank you Mr Speck for coming to NorthRepps primary and teaching us all about staying safe in winter!
