Butterflies

The week before half term Acorn class got some caterpillars. As no one would be in school during half term the caterpillars needed to go home with someone. Miss Page was given the job of looking after them. Nothing happened to them until Wednesday.

2 caterpillars changed into chrysalis. By Friday all 9 had changed.
On Monday Miss Page brought them back and by lunchtime we had 1 butterfly!

 By Tuesday we had 2.

Throughout the week more and more butterflies came out of their chrysalis. We fed the butterflies with sugar and water.

On Tuesday (14.06.16) we decided to release the butterflies at Forest School.
We opened the top, but the butterflies were reluctant to leave.

We tried to tempt them out with flowers.
In the end we left them on the ground and waited for them to leave on their own.

One landed on to our hands. It tickled.

One of the butterflies wouldn't leave...
 They kept landing on us.
One of our butterflies had a broken wing and wasn't very well. We picked it up and placed it high up on to some flowers in hope that it would get some food and get better.
